The VLD Target Rifle Bullet uses a secant ogive design, which reduces aerodynamic drag during flight. This lower drag results in a flatter trajectory, reduced wind drift, and higher retained velocity at long range.
A commonly preferred loading method for VLD bullets is seating them touching the rifling for single-shot applications, although some rifles may perform best with seating depths up to 0.150 inch off the lands.
The VLD Target bullets from Berger Bullets are widely used in competitive long-range shooting and are manufactured with highly consistent J4 Precision jackets, which are also favored by many custom bullet makers.
