IAPS in the Netherlands – What You Need to Know

IAPS stands for International Airsoft Practical Shooting. It’s a dynamic shooting sport where speed, precision, and safety come together. In the Netherlands, IAPS is organized under the NABV (Nederlandse Airsoft Belangen Vereniging – Dutch Airsoft Association).

IAPS is all about sporting challenges: shooters complete a course as quickly as possible while hitting targets from various angles and distances. You need to think fast, move well, and shoot accurately.

One popular competition is the annual Dutch Open, which attracts participants from both the Netherlands and abroad.

To participate, you’ll need a NABV membership, valid ID, and you must be at least 18 years old. Wearing protective eyewear is mandatory, as is the use of approved replicas and holsters.

What do you need?

  • GBB pistol (e.g., Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa)

  • Holster and magazines (Ghost)

  • Magazine pouches (Ghost)

  • Speedloader

  • Airsoft BBs (0.25g – 0.30g, e.g., Specna Arms)

  • Safety glasses (mandatory)

There are several IAPS divisions, such as:

  • Open Pistol – pistol with a Red Dot sight

  • Standard Pistol – no Red Dot

  • Production – must be a double-action or safe-action pistol

  • Production Optics – pistol with Red Dot sight mounted directly on the slide
